HEALTH TIPS FOR THE SEASON
These seasonal
peculiarities require that adequate and appropriate measures be taken for
individuals to be in top shape and feel good. The chilly, soggy has given way
to a dry, sweltering weather that places more demands on everyone, as it
brought its trail of harmattan with its accompanying problems.
Cough, cold,
catarrh, dry and itchy skin are some of the common ailments that are experienced
during this period. And though this might seem minor but the discomfort they
cause when fully blown could be avoided as much as possible.
More than ever, fruits
and vegetables containing essential vitamins and minerals are needed to keep
the body warm and protected from contracting avoidable infections.
Aside the
dietary aspect, however, the type of clothes worn also matters a lot. Warm and comfortable
clothes that cover their bodies and also protect against chilly weather. And as
much as possible, warm drinks and baths are to be preferred now.
It is also
expected that there will be more dust from getting into the nose, eyes and
mouth is, therefore, mandatory. People with cough, catarrh, who are liable to
sneezing, should always ensure they desist from spreading these to others by
using handkerchiefs, tissues, which should be properly disposed of. The warm,
dry, weather carries around germs and bacteria that gives rise to these
ailments, making it possible for easy transmission to others.
A lot of water
should be consumed now, as this keeps the body well-nourished and hydrated. It
also helps in the elimination of toxins through sweating and urination. All
undesirable, alien elements in the body are thereby flushed out, leaving the
body healthy and toxin-free.
Dust is kept
from constituting a problem in the home and the surroundings through frequent
mopping or vacuum cleaning.
If in spite of
all measures taken, any of these seasonal ailments still come calling, it is
the recommended fruits, vegetables and plenty of water that will do the trick
and bring the much-needed cure and relief.
So, when you are
down with cold, cough or catarrh, simply keep on chewing these fruits and
vegetables while washing them down with lots of water to aid digestion and keep
the body well hydrated.
