The stigma surrounding obesity and overweight people is horrible and a number of people have experienced it.

Weight stigma refers to negative behavior and attitude that are directed towards individual solely because of their weight.

Obesity affects people of all ages, geographies and socioeconomic backgrounds. For too long the discussions around obesity has been fixed on individual responsibility. This misleading narrative must end. It's time for a new obesity narrative.

I know losing weight is a challenge, especially in the current age where unhealthy, high-calorie foods lacking in nutrients are so easily available. It's never too early or too late to work towards being a healthier you.

Take control of the food you eat and food will no longer control you.

Live a healthy lifestyle for a healthy weight.

Check your weight before its too late

A person who has a body mass index (BMI) of 30 more can be referred to as obese. Be healthy & keep your BMI checked on a regular basis. Body Mass Index is a person's weight in kilograms (kg) divided by his or her height in meters squared.

HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR BMI
1. Convert your weight from pounds to kilograms.

Your weight (in pounds) ÷ 2.2 = your weight (in kilograms). For example, 132 pounds ÷ 2.2 kilograms = 60 kilograms.

2. Convert your height from inches to meters.

Your height (in inches) ÷ 39.37 = your height (in meters). For example, 65 inches ÷ 39.37 meters = 1.65 meters.

3. Calculate your Body Mass Index.

Your weight (in kilograms) ÷ [your height (in meters) x your height (in meters)] = BMI. For example, 60 kilograms ÷ (1.65 meters x 1.65 meters) = 22.03.
