In 2019, I stopped blogging. Not because I had nothing to say. But because life started saying too much, all at once.
If you have ever been a storyteller, a creator, or someone who once poured pieces of themselves online, you will understand. There comes a time when life gets louder than your voice. And not because your voice is gone. But because you are evolving. Quietly. Privately. Sometimes painfully.
Between 2016 and 2019, I was known as VOB (Victoria Oyedepo’s Blog). I shared my thoughts on lifestyle, faith, fashion, and travel. I documented my youthful joys, fresh adventures, aesthetic outfits, and honest reflections. That blog was more than a passion project. It was my home on the internet.
Then life shifted. I took a break. Not from writing entirely but from writing publicly. While my blog sat in digital silence, I was still behind the scenes:
- Ghostwriting for people
- Editing academic work for people
- Helping others tell their stories
- Journaling thoughts I was not ready to share
I thought I had "paused" writing. But truthfully, I was transitioning. Growing. Becoming. And now, after six years of growing in the shadows, I feel the nudge again. To show up. To share again, not for perfection. Not for performance. But for presence.
What Changed Between 2019 and 2025?
Everything. I changed. My faith deepened. My definition of success shifted. My voice matured.
I am not just writing to express; I am writing to serve. This time, it is about impact over aesthetics. Yes, I still love good visuals and thoughtful design, but more than ever, I care about the substance. The soul of what I write. The lives it will reach. The people it will encourage.
3 Powerful Lessons I Have Learned in the Silence
If you have ever put down something you loved, you will relate to this:
You are Still a Writer, Even When You are Not Posting
There is a dangerous lie that says: “If it is not public, it does not count.”
But every journaled thought, voice note, and unseen sentence has value. God sees it. And maybe it was never meant to be content, just communion.
The Break Was Preparing You, Not Punishing You
Rest seasons are not wasted. They are roots-growing, soul-deepening seasons. Do not curse the quiet. Listen in it. You are being formed.
Your Voice Is Needed — Especially Now
The internet does not need more noise. It needs clarity. It needs people who write with weight. If you have walked through something deeply and survived, you have a story that can set others free.
So, What Will I Be Writing About?
I am not returning to write about only where I have been. I am writing about who I am becoming, in real time.
